i fucking love it

great stuff, i really like chill acoustic stuff like this

no complaints, mabye you could post the lyrics so we can follow along better?

simple guitar parts, which isnt bad, just sayin

are you doing both of the vocals?

you should put some background piano chords in there, that could add a new depth of chill to this song that would be nice

peace out

first

you should give credit to the author of the poem "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost

also, i dont hear any vocals, i hear choirs, but not words

second, its extremely quite, by far the quitest track ive ever heard on NG, dont be afraif of your volume man

thrid, its pretty boring, like, NOTHING is going on at all, try and add a bit more intricacy to your tracks

ill give you this, the title does fit the song

all in all, its ok, but you have some executaion errors that need to be addressed

peace out

sarias responds:

really? lol
1) i do in the authors comments say that this is a text setting to robert frosts poem fire and ice
2) I say that this isn't a full recording, when I find a soprano I real one will be on there, this is just using finale's export feature, no edit was done, its raw, I wanna know what people think compositionally,
3) Im gonna have to listen to you stuff, cause I think a lot is going on and if you are used to listening to stuff from like maestrorage and then of course more is gonna be going on, its a Vocal solo with bassoon accompaniment theres 2 main motifs, the opening bassoon one, and the one that interludes the first half and the 2nd half.

4) lastly I said it was an assignment, those were the requirements, I had to make up my own scale, then write a text setting to the robert frost poem fire and ice.

whoa!

best, and i mean best, by far the best industrial stuff ive heard on NG

its soooo good, i only wish the vocals were more understandable

please explain how you made the voice sound like that, i mean im sure you did some screaming into a mic, but it sounds so robotic

did you record that guitar on your own? cuz it sounds great

amazing song dude, peace out

nihilisticeq responds:

It's just my vocals with a bit of glitching on them.

its good

im not really a fan of the intro, its mostly the bass, im just not likeing it, its kind of boring

now when it starts falling of and the most ambient stuff is coming in, i do like it

actually i think the bass sounds good when with the other synth, but not alone

its good, neever variety and length though, but who cares about that shit

Mich responds:

Thanks for the review!

Yeah, the bass in the intro isn't all that nice when playing alone... I should definitely do something more with it.

The fact it doesn't vary is because this is just one pattern, more a loop than a song, but it's kind of structured like a song, so yeah.

Once more, thanks. :)

how?

how do you get so many reviews, i know the RRC help a bit, but 24 is fuckin crazy

i never played FFX, i heard its great though

i like the guitar, is that DSK Acoustik Guitar?

i like the ambient spin on this, its nice

the drums are good, especially the snare, i just wish the kick sounded more real, it sounds a bit trancy here, but its still real nice

you should remix the Beatrix battles from FF9, good stuff

pretty good track dude, i dont really know what to say, no complaints really

peace

Box-Killa responds:

ha, yeah, just a bit of advertising here and there. I often ask for reviews, in reviews, my forum sig links to most recent song, i pm people that faved me, sometimes ill pm people on the forums. Yeah, i like to advertise lol. :D

yeah maybe i will remix the beatrix songs :D It is nexus guitar :D I like the drums too :D

Thanks for the review :D peaceout. Oh yeah, now i got like 30+ reviews lol

somewhat..

somewhat standard sounding, although the leads you use def. have a tad of originality to them, especially the trumpet, thats actually a really good trumpet, i think ill go download that after this

might i reccomend looking into some piano vst's, there a quite a few out there that are free and still sound pretty nice, KVR audio should be a good place to check, i just hate the way FL Keys sound, this track would sound alot better with some prettier pianos, mabye some soft reverb

also, try changing up your bassline a bit throughout the song, it gets a bit old pretty fast, just sayin

overall, its pretty good, i think it could use a bit of work

oh yeah i forgot, your kick, try layering kicks on top of each other, of putting effects on your kick to pump it up, the kicks us have hardly cuts through the mix, a good strong kick is essential on dance music, i think anyways

also, its useless to ask zero bombers to not zero stuff, there still gona do it just as much as they always do

Peace out

Echo responds:

Thanks man.

Already started work on the bassline and yeah, i really need some good pianos. I'll try looking over the net for some tks. ;)

Thanks for the tip about the kicks. Try to put it in the revised version.

I know about the zero bombers, but i just figure i should ask just the same. maybe some one of them will actually the read the blooming author's just once in a while. You never know ;)

Tks for the review.

NICE

fucking cool ass industrial loop you got their, havnt heard anything like that on NG in a while

i dont really like that bass, it sounds to generic techno-ish, not exactly a heavy dark bass like i think when i think industrial, but its ok

i do like the othe synths you got going, very ambient-ey, pretty cool twist w/ the industrial

when i listen to this, i get flashbacks for mario party 1, the wario battlefield lvl

so tell me, how did you make that sweet ass industrial loop?

oh nice i hear bells in the background, adds another good depth of spooky/ambient

i would def. play a game like what you describe in the comments, PM me if you ever finish somthing like that

peace out

PuffballsUnited responds:

I'll PM you! Hopefully I'll remember :P. Anyways, I thought the bass was pretty fitting. It was supposed to sorta sound like a conveyor belt yunno? And the beat, well it just sorta fell into place. I picked out the different sounds I would use, and everything just fit together so well. I'm glad you liked the song, and thanks for reviewing!

meh..

its ok but, its just poorly made in my opinion

its halfway through the song and im hearing the sax for a second time, there needs to be more of a focus on it

i dont know much about the steps of a byzantine scale, but this sounds a bit random for my taste, and if you knew the music i listened to, thats saying quite a bit

the drums and the sax dont interact at all really, you have a 4-to-the-floor, which i think is a bit odd for a track like this

on a more positive note, i DOES sound like a byzantine-ish melody

i get the feeling your fairly new with whatever DAW you use, but the more you practice playing with it, the better you'll become

its not too great, but that only means you can improve

peace out

mikkim responds:

first, the drums and the main instruments never interact much in my songs, and the DAW I use is fruity loops studio, which I am far from new to. thanks for the review.

knight of erubus

your being sarcastic about the name of the game arent you?

i like it, althought i dont really think this feels like boss music, its too happy and uplifting, either way, its still realy good

the strings sound very pristine, nocomplaints

omg when the harp comes in, that was fucking great, gives it a good moving feel

are those piano chords i hear in the background as well??

the only thing i can really say is that its a bit quiet, but that should be easy enough to fix

this sounds really really good, i cant wait to see where it goes

peace out dude

SessileNomad

blackattackbitch responds:

No, I'm not. I actually like the name, and you'll see why when you play the game. Although the praise might be overblown (I was high when I typed it), the meaning is still the same.

I had to keep it a bit quiet though, or else the drums would have caused dropouts of the rest of the instruments. It'll be better mastered in the final version though ;-)

I had the same concern that it was too happy for boss music, but I fixed that in the section after this demo, as you will see.

And yes, you're hearing piano chords, inspired by Yoko Shimomura and KH.

I was thinking about the final boss music to FFX when I made this song though, which is why that middle section with the harp is there.

Thanks for checking this out, man. I'll try to check out your song as soon as I can (don't know how long that'll be after the news I heard today), thanks again man!

the best part

i think the effects are the best part of this track, they add a really great depth to it

ive actually thought about trying to make effects of my own voice as well, but the mic i just bought is a piece of shit, so i probably wont be using it anytime soon

wait are you a boy or a girl, cuz some of the voices sound like boys, others sound like girls

yeah if want i can make you some drum loops, PM me if you want

the forest songs and this one could be easily be put into ambient genre, youd get more exposure in there

peace out

Monkeydelic responds:

Thanks alot. :)
I'm a boy, but i can hit pretty high notes.
Maybe i'll PM you later when i get a better mic, and can re-record with better quality.
Thanks for the tip, i really wasn't sure wich genre i could put this, but i'll follow your advice, Thanks again.

Namaste.
